
Covid-19 Safety Protocol
Horizon Learning desires to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment by instituting controls designed to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. Horizon Learning will work cooperatively with local and state agencies to enforce and adhere to the state health codes for prevention, control, and containment of communicable, notifiable, and other known diseases. The term “communicable disease” shall mean an illness which arises as a result of a specific infectious agent which may be transmitted either directly or indirectly by a susceptible host, infected person or animal to another person.
Please notify Horizon Learning immediately if your child or another member of his/her family has contracted a communicable disease or infestation that may pose a risk of transmission to other students and staff.
Students with infectious illnesses or conditions, such as infections of the skin or eyes, head lice, etc., must receive proper treatment from a physician and a note approving their return to the classroom.
No child will be allowed in class with:
● Significant elevation of temperature
● Skin rash; undiagnosed or not under treatment
● New loss of taste or smell
● Inflamed or an infectious eye
● Sore throat
● Vomiting or diarrhea
● Muscles aches, chills, sweat, fevers, ect. (flu symptoms)
COVID-19 Policy
If you had a fever but no other symptoms related to COVID-19, you can return to the classroom only after:
● Three days with no fever (without the use of fever-reducing medication) AND either:
● You provide a written clearance from a physician
● OR two subsequent negative test results in a row, at least 24 hours apart.
If you think or know you had COVID-19 and had symptoms, you can return to the classroom only after:
● Ten days with no fever (without the use of fever-reducing medication) AND either:
● Respiratory symptoms have improved (e.g. cough, shortness of breath) 10 days since respiratory symptoms first appeared and you provide written clearance from a physician
OR
● Two subsequent negative test results in a row, at least 24 hours apart.
If you tested positive for COVID-19, had no symptoms, and continue to have no symptoms, you can return to the classroom only after:
● You have notified Horizon Learning staff AND either:
● Waited at least 10 days after positive test results and provide a written clearance from a physician
● OR two subsequent negative test results in a row, at least 24 hours apart.
If you have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19, you can return to the classroom after:
● 14 days Close contact is defined as follows:
● You were within six feet of someone who has COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes with no other interventions (e.g. face coverings)
● You live with someone who has COVID-19
● You had direct physical contact with someone who has COVID-19 (touching, hugging, or kissing).
● You shared eating or drinking utensils with someone who has COVID-19
● Someone who has COVID-19 has sneezed or coughed on you.
